Carole Parker
Co-founder, Lead Spark Guide, LibrarianCarole co-founded Evergreen with her daughter, Matina and has her Bachelors in Elementary Education. She has worked with children as a school teacher and children’s ministry coordinator for many years and is NAMC Montessori trained. She loves incorporating elements of best practices from a variety of educational philosophies including Montessori, Forest School, and Play-based education (Anji-inspired). Her passion is working with 5-7 year olds and creating a rich learning environment with lots of books where each child can thrive. Some of her favorites: cooking, spending time with her six grandbabies, camping and hiking with her husband in Oregon every summer.
Whitney Lawrence
Learning Architect, Admissions, After-school Program & Clubs DirectorWhitney has two decades of experience in education in a variety of settings from public school, and private school, to higher education/laboratory preschool. These varied experiences have allowed her to explore and hone many best practices in working with children. She has her Master’s of Education in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum from the University of Oklahoma. Whitney helps with learning design and implementation in our elementary studios and spearheads our fine arts program, after-school programs, and clubs!
Some of her favorites: farming (she and her husband raise cows and chickens), reading, and incubating chicks with the learners at school every spring
Matina Hunnell
Co-founder, Head of School, Learning Architect, Middle School GuideMatina and her mom, Carole Parker, are the co-founders of Evergreen Academy. Fueled by a desire to provide a better educational learning model for her own two children and the greater Norman community, Matina embarked on this wild and beautiful entrepreneurial journey to start a nonprofit school back in 2019. Prior to Evergreen, she was a music educator for twelve years. Matina has a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Jazz Studies from UCO, and a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting and Voice from Berklee College of Music. Some of her favorites: gardening, farmer’s markets, improvisational cooking, coffee, wine, dark chocolate, and reading a book while snuggling her lazy and loveable Australian Shepherd, Junebug.
Kristin McIntyre
Lead Discovery Guide, Summer Camp DirectorKristin has been a member of the Evergreen team since 2020 and has become an integral part of the magic of our school. She has a Master’s in Human Relations and Bachelor’s in Psychology both from OU. Prior to coming to Evergreen, she founded a highly successful nonprofit homeschool group where she taught classes. She enjoys designing quests and fun writing projects for the learners in Discovery Studio (7-11 year olds) and her two youngest boys attend the school. Some of her favorites: dark chocolate, laughing, she has a special love for animals- especially her two dogs.
